UEA operates mainly out of New York and Florida, while maintaining a presence at major athletic events. Our educators work remotely with students across the globe and are willing to travel as needed.

Clementine Goutal


Clementine graduated from Brown University with a commitment to developing a program for student-athletes that enabled excellence in both arenas. Having grown up in New York City with the opportunity to attend a private school that facilitated extra-curricular pursuits, she was eager to afford other students this opportunity. The mission of UEA today expands beyond this commitment to student-athletes but the company’s work in this domain remains unparalleled. 

Kate Bomgaars


Kate’s graduate degrees in Business Marketing and Graphic Communications prepared her for an administrative role at UEA. With her own children in mind, she recognized the need for an elementary program that provides continuity and enrichment activities, such as foreign language and music instruction in a supported, child-centered environment. 

Heather Amber


Heather graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Learning and a minor in French. As a licensed classroom teacher, she taught French for four years and Kindergarten for two years at the Episcopal School of Knoxville. Heather is the preeminent college and academic advisor. She enjoys combining her passion for education and her love of riding by helping young equestrians have successful educational experiences.

As the most essential element of our company, educators are carefully selected to reflect the values and mission we so passionately pursue. We seek talented and diverse individuals, who have been successful in both academia and their professional pursuits, to act as mentors to our students.
Current and former UEA tutors have led by example at the top of their class, volunteered in the community, represented their country at the Olympics, traveled the world and show a commitment to student success. 

Dr. Ken

Dr. Melmed’s education includes a Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University. He has taught all levels of chemistry on both a high school and college level, and was appointed Science Department Chair for grades K – 12. He was also appointed Master Teacher by the administration of the private school where he taught for many years. In addition, Dr. Melmed has extensive experience in the environmental sciences, having worked for a corporation that won a contract to serve as a consultant to the Environmental Protection Agency for many years.


Lindsay graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. Having received a perfect score on 9 AP exams and an SAT score above the 99th percentile, she enjoys preparing students to excel on standardized tests. Lindsay also specializes in mathematics and the sciences and frequently travels to equestrian events with UEA students. 


Sasha Newman attended Yale University and received her doctorate in the history of art from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. She was a Robert Goldwater fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a Samuel Kress Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. She served as the Seymour Knox, Jr. Curator at the Yale University Art Gallery where she was also a professor of art history. Newman has organized major international exhibitions and written books and articles on, amongst others, Pierre Bonnard, Felix Vallotton, Arthur Dove, Georgia O’Keeffe, Alberto Giacometti, Fred Sandback, Richard Serra, Mel Bochner, etc. She has served as an art consultant for major U.S. collectors and written and edited films with Michael Blackwood Productions, amongst them RECLAIMING THE BODY: ART AND FEMINISM. She is a dressage trainer and rider in Wellington, FL where she also does independent college and graduate school consulting.


Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in computer information systems/business with a 4.0 GPA. After spending two years at home with her three small children, she found her niche as a tutor working with equestrian homeschool students. She has more than 10 years of experience as an SAT/ACT instructor and is now a certified professional Florida math educator.


Vanessa is an educator, mathematician, and engineer who enjoys teaching people how to do and use mathematics to achieve academic goals. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Art degree in Mathematics. Along with years of industry experience in the software engineering field, she also has years of classroom teaching experience with a variety of learners, from those struggling with the material to those who display talent in the subject, to help the students achieve higher grades, pass tests, improve study skills, strengthen work ethic, and subsequently increase self-confidence. She specializes in the subjects of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.


Marcia Anderson earned a Masters in Classical Philology (Latin & Greek) after receiving Bachelors degrees in Biology and Classics. She was awarded the Kathleen Ranking Prize for the Most Outstanding Graduate Student in the Classics. She is currently a Doctoral Student in Latin and Roman Studies and teaches at Florida State University. In her native Cincinnati, OH, she studied Classical Violin and Ballet at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra, and traveled extensively to perform both at competitions and concerts.


Khrysztian received her B.A. in International Business and French with a minor in Spanish Linguistics from the Ohio State University. She has also studied French at McGill University in Montréal, Quèbec and Spanish at the José Ortega y Gasset Foundacíon in Toledo, Spain. Most recently, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and tutoring students in French, Spanish, and Art History from elementary through university levels.  In her spare time, she and her family love to travel and go boating.

After attending the Chapin School in Manhattan, Natalie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania cum laude with a BA in the History of Art and in French Studies. She then spent four years at Soros Fund Management LLC, a top-performing hedge fund. Natalie earned her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and after graduating in 2015, founded a consulting business, South Main Capital, LLC, which focuses on qualitative research and due diligence. Natalie loves to read fiction and was research assistant to Martha Hall Kelly on her second novel, Lost Roses. Natalie has authored three white papers and she enjoys coaching students on their writing skills. She has also helped several candidates be admitted to top business school programs and advises high school students on the college application process.


Richard graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. He then attended the Sloan School at MIT where he received his Master’s in Industrial Management. At Touche Ross & Co. (currently Deloitte & Touche), Richard worked as a Management Consultant, the Director of Marketing, and then the Director of Health Care Consulting before being admitted to partnership. He was also the Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. M&A Practice at Deutsche Bank and continues to serve as a Principal in the Triad Advisory Group. Richard tutors Upper Echelon Academy Students in Finance, Economics, Statistics, and Accounting.


Lucy graduated from Stanford with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a specialty in Sustainability. She enjoys teaching humanities and science, and has a particular fondness for Old English Literature. Lucy continues to compete as an equestrian representing the USA, and was a member of the silver medal team at the 2016 Olympic Games. 


Emmi graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then completed a Master’s of Science in Medical Sciences from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She has experience working with students from elementary school through college, and specializes in helping students in biological sciences, mathematics, reading, and French.


Sarah is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Ethics and Law. She has completed the boards and classwork of medical school and is currently earning her PhD with the World Health Organization / University of Zurich before beginning clinical work. Sarah specializes in helping students in upper-level biology and sciences. In her spare time, Sarah volunteers at student-run health fairs in the community offering health care and screenings to patients without medical insurance, typically directing the pediatric operations. 


Ivan graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California and was personally recruited by the founder of Kaplan Test Prep to teach the ACT/SAT, GRE, GMAT and LSAT.  He left his prominent role as the Academic Director of Kaplan in the metro area to continue tutoring students, training educators, and writing standardized prep course material.  He has personally scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT/SAT, GRE, GMAT and LSAT. In addition to preparing students for these exams, he also has experience teaching high school academics (Math, English, History and Science) and guitar/music theory.  As you can see, when it comes to teaching, Ivan's pretty much done it all. But that’s not all! Ivan is a talented author and has written shows now appearing on Netflix.
